THE LAKE DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK
AUTHORITY PUBLIC PATH NOTICE FOOTPATH 521011, TARN BECK NEAR HAVELOCK COTTAGE, DUNNERDALE-WITH-SEATHWAITE PARISH EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2019 NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Secretary of State has granted a further extension to the Order made by the Lake District National Park Authority that came into force on 20 November 2019. The effect of the order is to prohibit all public traffic for all purposes from proceeding over Footpath 521011 at Havelock Cottage and Tarn Beck, Dunnerdale, Dunnerdale-with-Seathwaite Parish, from the road at Havelock Cottage at SD 2260 9600 northwards to and across the bridge over Tam Beck to SD 2258 9605, because of danger to the public caused by undercutting of the central pier and loose abutments leading to a possible collapse of the bridge. The notice and plan showing the route concerned may be inspected during normal office or opening hours at the National Park Authority Offices, Muriey Moss, Oxenholme Road, Kendal, LA9 7RL; at South Lakeland District Council, South Lakeland House, Lowther Street, Kendal, LA9 4DQ; and at Ulpha General Stores, Ulpha, Broughton-in-Furness, Cumbria LA20 6DX; and is also available online at www.
The order will now continue in force until 31 August 2021, although we hope to replace the bridge much earlier than this. Signs are erected showing the closed path. We anticipate replacing the bridge in the spring or early summer of 2021. If the works have not been completed it may be extended for a further period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
Any queries on this matter should be sent to steve.
