NORTH YORK MOORS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS-CYCLISTS AND EQUESTRIANS)
Bridleways Nos 502022 Appleton le Moors and 509022 Cropton (Appleton Mill Bridge)
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 -Section 14(1) (as amended)
The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parishes of Appleton le Moors and Cropton in the District of Ryedale:
No pedestrian, horse-rider or cyclist shall proceed along bridleway 502022 Appleton le Moors, commencing at Grid Reference (GR) SE746 879 (point A) at Appleton Mill Farm going generally east for 62 metres (m) then becomes bridleway 509022 Cropton and continuing for 197m crossing the River Seven to GR SE748 879 (point B) at Mill Wood.
The alternative route is to take bridleway 502003 north-west for 910m to GR SE738 883 (point C); turn north, east and north along C194 Howldale Lane for 1808m to Lower Askew GR SE743 898 (point E); turn east crossing Seven Bridge and south-east along C64 to GR SE752 895 (point F); turn south along C63 over Cropton Bridge for 280m to GR SE752 892 (point G) and turn south-west and generally south on bridleway 509009 Low Lane for 1577m to the point of closure at GR SE748 879 (Point B) and return.
A shorter alternative route for pedestrians only is to
take Footpaths 502503, 502002 and 522015 directly north for 1819m to Lower Askew GR SE743 897 (point D); continue north on C194 Howldale Lane for 70m to GR SE743 898 (Point E) then turn east on C64 and continue as above to the point of closure at GR SE748 879 (Point B) and return.
The closure will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
The Order is necessary due to danger to the public during bridge deck replacement.
