FOR organisers at the Green Door art collective, the show must go on.

The co-operative spanning around 100 artists in south Cumbria and Lancashire celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Due to the restrictions the coronavirus pandemic has brought about for many cultural events, Green Door decided to hold its first online exhibition this month. The show runs until Friday, July 17.

One artist whose work features in the exhibition is Bardsea-based printmaker, Marie Wright.

She told The Gazette: “A lot of my work is based on the landscape in and around this area.

“In particular, I like to look at the field boundaries and anthropological finds from the Bronze Age remains in the area - the various artefacts dug up.

“I’m fascinated by the way the land in this area was used in the past.

“Setting aside the visual appeal, I love this idea of there being layers in the landscape - things lodged from many years ago.

“Green Door has been a really good way of keeping up with other artists in the area - they run a number of exhibitions at various points in the year and of course I’m very grateful they have held this online exhibition. With all the problems coronavirus has caused for artists, a lot of us have had shows cancelled recently.”
