HERE are the latest announcements from our community news correspondent Myra McCraith for Grasmere.

THE WI held a garden party in memory of Jan Perritt, who passed away suddenly in December. Members prepared a delicious afternoon tea with a vast array of cakes and raised £700 for St Mary's Hospice.

For the July meeting members will visit Dove Cottage and garden and the new Wordsworth Museum (Thursday, July 8, 2pm).

BOOK Group's choice for July is Eley Williams' the Liar's Dictionary (Thursday, July 8, 8pm).

RUSHBEARING will remain virtual this year, on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, with additional displays and children's colouring contributions in the Co-op and local shops (Saturday, July 10).

KNIT and Nat meet in the Reading Rooms (Tuesdays, July 13 & 27, 2pm).

WORDSWORTH Grasmere is now fully open, with daily activities for individuals and families in addition to museum, Dove Cottage, and garden visits.

ALLAN Bank is currently open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday (10am-4.30pm), no pre-booking required.

READING ROOM members have returned to enjoy social evenings with regular bingo and live music sessions, as well as snooker and of course the bar.

Membership is £10 and local friends may attend as guests.
