Farfield Mill has launched it's own in house' tearoom - Weavers at Farfield.

This is the first time the Mill has managed its own catering and they have taken the opportunity to make it work more closely with the rest of the attraction.

From Weavers you can watch Farfield's master weaver at work on their Victorian-style Dobcross Looms weaving this season's throws and rugs for sale in the Mill shop and in shops around the county.

Weavers concentrates on local produce and most of the supplies are coming from people in and around Sedbergh. Award-wining meat and pies from Garth Steadman, Sedbergh's renowned butcher, fresh crisp fruit, vegetable and salads from Powells in Sedbergh and straying a little further to Kendal for Farrers Coffee and Lakeland blend tea.

The menu is distinctly Cumbrian in flavour with dishes like Cumbrian Lamb Hotpot, and Weaver's Platter featuring Garth's wonderful Pork Pie and Wensleydale cheese with fresh salad.

Open from 10 am until 5 pm currently. Visitors to the tearoom only are not charged Mill admission - but you may well want to make a morning or afternoon of it and spend some time watching the studio artists at work, enjoying the craft and art displays, seeing demonstrations by craft makers and visiting the superb exhibitions in the Dover and Howgill Galleries.

There are often opportunities to take part in short courses or have a go at weaving, knitting or rag rugging yourself.
