W ith Wimbledon in full swing and strawberries in season we had to choose a partner for these – and opted for a bottle of award-winning fizz,  Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvee Brut.

This Gran Cuvee uses three grape varieties of chardonnay, pinot noir and macabeo to create kaleidoscope of flavours.

The wine has a slight nutty scent and honey tones with  light, youthful, fizzy texture and a crisp dry finish.

The flavours combine a range of fruits such as apple and ripe pear as well as zesty lemon – a great alternative to champagne with a stylish modern bottle at a reasonable price.

If want to have this with your main meal its great with freshly roasted chicken or a mushroom risotto.
