A WARM welcome greeted my partner and I when we visited the Blue Moon Restaurant in Lancaster on a busy Friday night.

The staff at the venue at the bottom of Great North Street could not have been kinder or more helpful from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, having enjoyed a delicious three-course meal. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

This modern Thai eatery opened earlier this year, offering a wide variety of food.

As well as a choice of individual dishes there is also a set dinner menu which people can share – we decided on the set dinner menu A, which was priced at £18.95 per person.

As well as being friendly, the staff provided efficient service and we did not have to wait long for our first course.

The beautifully presented starter consisted of prawn crackers with sweet chilli sauce, satay chicken, arjad sauce, peanut sauce, pepper prawns wrapped in rice pepper, and spring roll with sweet chilli sauce.

Each was gorgeous. For the main, we were served green curry with chicken thai aubergine, bamboo shoots and sweet basil, wok fried chicken with cashews spring onions and fried chilli, stir fried choi sum in oyster sauce and jasmine rice.

This was the first time I had tried any of these dishes and the jasmine rice was just something else –I was bowled over by how nice it was.

Dessert was banana fritter with vanilla ice cream. My partner was too full after the starter and main but I was only too happy to oblige. And no, before you ask, I did not eat two.

This was followed by coffee, and by then I was so full that I considered asking the staff to roll me out of the restaurant. They were so obliging they would probably have agreed.

After such a lovely evening, I could not recommend the Blue Moon highly enough.

* The total cost for two, excluding drinks, was £37.90
