A POEM and a Pint’s pre-Christmas lyrical soiree is at the Laurel and Hardy Museum, on Brogden Street, Ulverston, on Saturday (November 19, 7.30pm), featuring poet Keith Hutson. Keith's debut pamphlet Routines, published by Poetry Salzburg last month, is a sequence of 31 sonnets celebrating the hard, often tragic, always extraordinary lives of music hall and variety artistes. As well as a poetic voice, Keith is a scriptwriter and has written for Coronation Street and provided material for several comedians, including the late, great Les Dawson. The tinsel-tinted gathering also includes music courtesy of versatile quartet, Ragazza. All this plus six open mic slots and talented MC Caroline Gilfillan.
