All Cliff Richard fans listen up as we have a CD/DVD set up for grabs this week from the man for your pleasure.

Entitled ‘From A Distance…The Event’ (EMI), it is a recording that dates back to June 16 & 17th, 1989 when Cliff played the two most challenging live shows of his career to his (then) largest audience ever.

Originally planned as a one off show, a second night’s performance was quickly organised after tickets sold out in record time. Cliff had spent six weeks in rehearsal, working with 90 artists preparing for this extravaganza which would see him singing 45 songs, making five costume changes and, moving in style from Fifties high school hop to Eighties high tech pop.

The first part of the event was based on the TV show ‘Oh Boy!’ which had given Cliff his first national television exposure in 1958.

Cliff’s later solo set featured a mix of familiar hits and new recordings from his then current album ‘Stronger’.

In order to win one of five copies of the CD/DVD ‘From A Distance…The Main Event’ (EMI), just answer the following question: Who was the lead guitarist in The Shadows? Send your answer with your name, address and daytime telephone number to phil.fleming@lancaster.newsquest.co.uk by Tuesday, April 19.
