A NEW festival celebrating the versatility of British wool is set to take place at a pub near Ulverston.

The public will be able to see the work of more than 20 farmers and producers who create sustainable income streams using this ‘amazing but much under-used resource’.

A spokeswoman for the Farmer’s Yarns festival, taking place at The Farmer’s Arms, Spark Bridge, said: “Take a crochet and knitting lesson, browse yarns and knitwear, watch Herdwick wool rope-making demonstrations and meet local farmers with native and rare-breed sheep.”

There will be a panel discussion on ‘making the best of British wool’ in the afternoon. It will tell the stories of four businesses that are doing well from the material.

Entry to the event on July 3 is free. Panel discussion tickets are £5. Book at lake districtfarmersarms.com
