POPULAR classics from the Fledermaus Overture to the Blue Danube Waltz all feature in the Royal Northern Sinfonia's grand New Year’s Viennese Gala.
Ulverston International Music Festival (UIMF) welcomes back to town one of the UK's finest orchestras to help celebrate the New Year in traditional Viennese style on Tuesday, January 2 (7.30pm) at the Coronation Hall, conducted by Matthew Coorey.
UIMF’s artistic director, Anthony Hewitt, said that the Viennese-style celebration of music has become a rousing kick-start to the year for many in South Lakeland: "It’s become quite a glamorous event with many concertgoers dressing up for the evening. The concert was greatly missed last year and when the Coronation Hall asked us if we could help we had no hesitation in asking the RNS perform. In fact they will be performing this concert at the prestigious Sage, just 24 hours earlier, so we are really privileged to have them here.”
“I’m really excited to be able to bring one of the country’s finest orchestras back to the town to start another year of exciting music, including the annual festival in June.”
Tickets are available from the Coronation Hall box office on 01229-587140 or online at www.corohall.co.uk.
