THE Royalty Cinema, Bowness kicks off its silent film season for this year with a classic Harold Lloyd comedy from 1928 - Speedy. The film stars Harold as Speedy Swift, a fan of Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees, who saves from extinction the city's last horse-drawn trolley, operated by his girlfriend's grandfather. The film features plenty of fast chase scenes and incredible live action stunts, which Harold Lloyd performed for himself, plus a cameo appearance by Babe Ruth of the New York Yankees. Speedy is screened on Saturday, April 21 (2pm); accompanist will be Paul Gregson.

Further films in the cinema's silent season include Chaplin's The Circus on May 26.
