THE preliminary round of the prestigious Keldwyth Cumbrian Young Musicians Award is being staged at Kendal Town Hall on Monday, July 16.
Running from 10am-4pm, music lovers are in for a tuneful treat with the all-day session featuring six singers, three string players, a harpist, one woodwind player and three pianists.
With an age range from 16 to 21, the talented young musicians will compete for one of four places in the August 31 final at Grange-over-Sands Victoria Hall. The prize is £1,000 and the Reg Griffiths Trophy. Runner-up receives £500 and the Geoffrey Blake Trophy.
Tickets for next Monday's preliminary round are available online, at the door or from The Full Octave Music Shop, at Dalton-in-Furness.
