AUTUMN is traditionally the Brewery's busiest season and there's plenty of spellbinding entertainment up its sleeve during the coming months.

For starters, the Kendal arts centre's theatre programme sees magician Pete Firman (October 6) make his Brewery debut with the jaw-dropping tricks that have seen him become a TV regular on shows such as Tonight at the London Palladium. Pete performs his new show Marvels, which has been wowing audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Fans of the spectacular can also experience the big top skills of Ellie Dubois award-winning performers in No Show (September 26), a contemporary twist on the glitz and glamour of a traditional circus show featuring stunning acrobatic abilities.

Talented physical theatre duo Simon McElligott and Natalie Morrell - best known as The Knotted Project - will be pushing at the boundaries once again performing their new brand show The Commuters (October 3). on the very stage where they learned their skills in the Brewery’s Youth Arts scheme. The popular pair are earning a national reputation for producing innovative theatre with a sense of fun.

The Brewery is also looking to build on the success of its Pay What You Decide scheme which was introduced in the spring with the aim of encouraging people to experience new, cutting edge shows without having to pay for a ticket in advance.

Three shows are being priced on a PWYD basis, including Sonya Moorhead’s feminist-influenced piece FERAL (November 8), Our Carnal Hearts, a unique show featuring live music by Rachel Mars (November 21) and Let Me Look at You (November 23), a touching one-man show by Starving Artists, a company renowned for making LGBT inspired theatre (November 23).

Theatre buffs who like their shows a bit less edgy can catch the premiere of award-winning writer Gordon Steel’s powerful new play The Fulstow Boys (September 22) and take a trip into the psyche of legendary football manager Brian Clough in Red Ladder Theatre's The Damned United (November 2).

For those who want a good laugh, two of Ireland’s finest funnymen Jimeoin (October 28) and Jason Byrne (October 19) perform at the Brewery and music fans will be able to broaden their horizons with a sonic smorgasbord of genres in the Malt Room. Gigs include the flamboyant Horse Meat Disco (September 21); they'll be cranking up the dance tunes, pumping out their vibrant mix of classics, italo disco, house, oddities, Afro and punk funk. Meanwhile, traditional music will also feature heavily in the Malt Room with gigs from renowned folk music icons Martin Carthy (September 13), Peggy Seeger (October 24) and Oysterband (November 28).

Music fans who like their sounds a bit heavier can experience the hits of The Stranglers, including legendary tracks such as No More Heroes and Peaches, from frontman Hugh Cornwell (November 9) and UK jazz giant Courtney Pine (December 11) will appear in a new collaboration with soul star Omar.

Autumn at the Brewery is synonymous with some of the biggest festivals on the Cumbrian calendar.

Once again, the centre will be bringing the Roundabout pop up theatre tent to Grasmere for four days of cutting-edge theatre, spoken word, live music and comedy from the likes of Justin Moorhouse and Barbara Nice from September 13-16.

And the Brewery will also form the main hub for the constantly innovative Lakes International Comic Art Festival, from October 12-14, followed a month later by the world class Kendal Mountain Festival, rising to even greater heights from November 15-18.
