BACK on the art trail and members of popular creative co-operative Green Door make a return visit to Staveley Roundhouse this weekend (November 30 - December 2) for their annual Affordable Art event.

There will be plenty on display with ceramics, glass, jewellery, paintings, textiles, prints, wood, sculpture and photographs, as well as greetings cards and smaller items, including work by David Sharps, whose work explores the wild beauty of the Lakeland fells and through its ever changing light and weather conditions. Working mainly from sketches and his own photographs of the landscape, he uses colour and texture to represent the changing and dynamic weather and light conditions through paint, mixed media and printmaking.

Also in the frame is printmaker Kath Lockhart and there will be contemporary textile artist from Kendal artist Nancy Gray, focused on machine embroidery, as well as unique, handcrafted lampshades courtesy of Helen Bennett.

Other exhibiting artists include Tina Allonby, Averyl Bradbrook, Barbra Cropper, Sue David, Elisa De Dios, Jenny Drinkwater, Joyce Eldred, Claire Griffel, Lela Harris, Heidi Hodkinson, Carol Lewis, Anne MacKinnon, Jane Mallinson, Janice Myers, Marjorie Park, David Pooley, Fran Riley, Christine Rooney, Leonie Rutter, Caroline Stow, Sharon Tait, Mary Taylor, Sonja Vietoris, Geraldine Walkington, Rosie Wates, Clare Whistler and Maddy Wright.

"Our Affordable Art event proved so popular last year that we couldn’t resist the chance to do it again,” said Green Door Administrator Janice Benson. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to begin your Christmas shopping or treat yourself to an exclusive art work from a local artist. There really will be a tremendous range of members’ work available."

Open Friday and Saturday, 10am-4.30pm; Sunday, 10am-4pm.
