ASKHAM Hall aims to hit the right notes with a special weekend of classical music concerts, featuring three internationally renowned musicians.

Running from February 22-24, the three-day event will feature a rich programme of chamber music starring Vashti Hunter, the first British cellist ever to be awarded a prize at the International Cello Competition Prague Spring; award-winning Albanian-Greek violinist Jonian Ilias Kadesha; and pianist Noam Greenberg, who studied with one of the most influential piano teachers of the late 20th century - the late Mario Curcio - and has played for audiences in Vienna, Rome and Madrid.

As well as the ticketed concerts, there are additional options to dine at Askham Hall with menus specially prepared by head chef Richard Swale using produce straight off the Lowther Estate. Similar events have been held in Askham village. However, this will be first time the classical music extravaganza has been hosted in Askham Hall's Bank Barn, an atmospheric renovated18th Century barn with excellent acoustics.

Cellist Vashti Hunter said she was thrilled to be heading north to take part in this special weekend celebrating chamber music at its very best: "The Lake District and Cumbria is known for its rich heritage and culture, so it will be a pleasure to perform in the grounds of an historic stately home in this inspirational part of the world."

Askham Hall, near Penrith, was originally a Pele Tower dating back to the late 1200s and is a grade one listed building. It has been in Cumbria's famous Lowther family since the early 1800s and is currently owned by Charles Lowther, who reopened his family home as a restaurant (Allium) with rooms in 2014.
