KATE Bentley's Out of the Woods solo exhibition of recent paintings is running at Keswick's Northern Lights Gallery until May 11. Most of the paintings are of imaginary places inspired in essence by Kate reconnaissance expeditions with her dogs collecting a dictionary of sights, smells, sounds and tastes of her surroundings and weather. Kate - whose preferred way of working is en plein air - was prizewinner at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Annual Prize Exhibition in 2013. The previous year she was awarded membership to the Birmingham Watercolour Society, the same year that she joined the illustrious ranks of the Lakes Artists Society, winning the society's Peter Tyson Award. Two years earlier she was awarded LAS's Rheged Prize.
