LAUREL and Hardy are the focus of a special night at the Royalty Cinema at Bowness.
Coming up on Saturday, April 27 (7pm), the first half of the event features three of the comedy duo's early silent short films: Liberty (1929), Angora Love (1929), and We Faw Down (1928), all with live accompaniment from Paul Gregson at the Wurlitzer organ. Following on after the interval will be the 1939 talkie A Chump at Oxford. Organiser Mark Latimer said its a real bumper programme of some of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy's best loved work: "And what better place to see it than The Royalty with its retro atmosphere and Wurlitzer organ."
The show is the first of a series of silent and classic films screened at the Royalty which will include Buster Keaton's The General, the much loved Ealing comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets as well as comedies starring Gracie Fields and George Formby.
