KENDAL South Choir's new director of music picks up the baton on Saturday (May 4, 7.30pm) for a performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
Geoffrey Field, who was the choir’s accompanist before taking on his fresh role, studied piano, organ, composition and choral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. As a choral director his choirs have achieved many accolades, including winning the youth sections of BBC and HTV competitions and being semi-finalists in the BBC Choir of the Year 2000.
KSC will perform the stirring choruses of Mendelssohn's dramatic oratorio at Kendal's St Thomas’s Church, with an orchestra plus soloists, soprano, Katy Thomson, mezzo soprano, Sarah Jillian Cox, tenor, Jacob Clark and baritone, Charles Murray.
Tickets are available at Fantastic Kendal, Finkle Street, Kendal, choir members or at the door.
