FLORA and Fauna and Other Songs of Nature is the title of Levens Choir's next outing at Kendal Town Hall on Tuesday, July 2 (7.30pm).

The programme features songs beautifully evocative of the natural world by Gerald Finzi and Camille Saint-Saens to Andrew Carter’s upbeat setting of the Teddy Bears’ Picnic and John Rutter’s witty setting of The Owl and the Pussycat.

There will also be madrigals, including the 17th century All Creatures Now are Merry Minded, plus Eric Whitacre's hilarious settings of poems by Ogden Nash.

Four members of the choir form the AdLib Folk Song Group will also perform and as well as accompanying the choir highly regarded pianist Ken Forster will tinkle the ivories playing his own suitably ecological solo.

Tickets are available from the Brewery Arts Centre box office on 01539-725133 and Fantastic Kendal, 26-28 Finkle Street.

Seats are unreserved and cabaret style in the main hall.
