KENDAL Jazz Club opens its doors to the Brownfield Byrne Quintet next Wednesday, July 17 (8pm).
The talented group sprang to prominence a few years ago, making an immediate impression by basing their sound on that of the tightly-arranged John Kirby Band of the 1930s and 40s. However, they have always put their own twist on the music, particularly in solos, and that is particularly true of the present line up. Jamie Brownfield's fiery trumpet work contrasts beautifully with Liam Byrne's gentle laid back saxophone, and the top notch rhythm team of Andrzej Baranek (piano), Ed Harrison (bass) and Richard Crossley (drums), pushes them to great heights.
Kendal Jazz Club stages events in the Kentdale Suite of Kendal Rugby Club.
