INTERNATIONAL musician and composer Jean-Selim Abdelmoula is the next Grange-over-Sands Concert Club guest, playing the Victoria Hall on Friday, August 9 (8pm).

The 26-year-old Swiss pianist has composed items for, among others, Heinz Holliger, Antje Weithaas, Patricia Kopatchinskaya, Sylvia Nopper, Gilles Colliard and Einar Steen-Nokleberg. He is an alumnus at the Lausanne Institute of Music and the Guildhall Institute in London, where he studied with pianists Christian Favre and Ronan O'Hara.

The versatile young musician has played in masterclasses with Sir Andras Schiff, Gyorgy Kurtag, Ferenc Rados, Denes Varjon, Mitsulo Uchida, Imogen Cooper, Stephen Hough, Angela Hewitt, Richard Goode and Leon Fleischer, and has been advised on composition by Heinz Holliger and George Benjamin.

Jean-Selim's programme will include his own Two Interludes, Robert Schumann's Fantasie in C, Franz Schubert's Sonata in B Flat, and Kurtag's Selection of Játékok.
