ACOUSTIC rocker Daniel Orr will show off his eclectic mix at three explosive gigs in Cumbria and Lancashire.

Bridge House Farm, in Wray, Kendal's Brewery and Lounge will play host to the singer/song writer this November and February.

The solo artist dabbles in covers as well as throwing in a few of his own compositions.

Redeveloping and meshing up songs like Rihanna’s Umbrella, by putting an indie slant on the classic pop song, this performer has a talent for experimenting with beats and sounds to create one original track.

The self-taught musician has been brought up on a healthy diet of the Beatles, the Stone Roses and New Order "I've always enjoyed music," Daniel told me. "I have been writing lyrics since I was about 12 - they are normally very personal. I try and be positive, I don't like it to be too negative - life can sometimes be a struggle but there's always hope."

From motown to RnB and rock covers, Daniel jumps between genres to cater for the masses.

"I try and play something that everybody will know as well as a few of my own." said Daniel who has already built up a diehard fanbase from gigs at the Sun Dial in Bentham.

"The reception there has been great, especially when people get up and dance. I don't take myself too seriously - I always want to make sure everyone is having a good time."

Daniel's been performing on and off for decades and said he hopes to one day play at Kendal Calling - his favourite festival.

"It's the perfect size - there's a lot of up and coming bands so there's loads there for people who want to discover new music as well as established names."

Those that want to hear Daniel, who is a reporter for the Westmorland Gazette, can catch him at the Lounge in Kendal tomorrow (Friday) or at a charity night at Bridge House Farm in Wray on Friday (November 23) or at the Brewery on February 9 when he will be supporting Syd Arthur.
