THREE hundred swimmers enjoyed the sunny Lake District weather at the Utterly Buttermere swim on Saturday.

Organised by outdoor adventure company Head to the Hills, swimmers came from all over the country to take part in the 1500m, 5k or 10k swim.

"It was a fantastic day and a great swim in a beautiful location. Thank you Head to the Hills and all the volunteers," said swimmer Rosie Taylor.

"I feel lucky to have had the experience of this event. Thanks for making it happen, and for introducing me to such a beautiful swim," said participant David Higginson.

Prizes were awarded to 1500m swimmers Craig Sweeny and Angela Osman, the 5k winners Nick Parks and Hayley Bird and 10k winners Ryan Huckle and Kerry Oldfield.

The swim was run in association with the National Trust and the Open Water Swimming Club while it was sponsored by Blueseventy Wetsuits, Truncator and Cumbria PR.
