MORGAN Donnelly won the British championship race at Yetholm in 1:00.19, more than a minute ahead of Sedbergh’s Joe Symonds.

Staveley runner Rob Jebb made up the top three a further minute behind.

Mark Roberts from Borrowdale FR was first V50, while the Ambleside ladies team were top of the pile, with Astrid Gibbs, Lou Roberts, Hazel Robinson and Kate Ayres bringing home the glory.

Dark Peak runner Oli Johnson won the Ennerdale fell race seven and a half minutes ahead of Eden’s Kim Collison in a time of 3:46.39.

Pete Vale from Mercia Fell Runners took third.

Of the locals Ambleside AC trio Ben Abdelnoor, Tom Gibbs and Gary Thorpe were 11th, 12th and 13th respectively, with Borrowdale’s Steve Birkinshaw eighth.

Carnethy’s Jasmin Paris won the ladies race in 4:32.28, with Heather Catherine Marshall from Dark Peak second.

Carl Bell regained his Grasmere Gallop title in the 17k with a 1:01.38.

It was a two-horse race, with Wigton’s Chris Steele second, but the next competitor was eight minutes adrift in third.

Ambleside’s Gill Mead was first female home in 1:17.32, with Carolyne Baxter from Lancaster second and Fiona Halls third.

This year’s winner of the 10k Grasmere Gallop was Jon Deegan from Staveley in 39.06, with Ambleside’s Paul Knowles third.

Emma Hinkles from Bradford was first lady home.
