BOWNESS Bowling Club open doubles competitions played on Sunday was sponsored by Saint & Co. Accountants from Ambleside, and saw some wonderful bowling, which members at the club are still talking about.

Steve and Mark Ashburn (Holme) beat Martin and Alan Gilpin (Hale) 21-17 to reach the semi final, while Andy Thornton and Simon Brown (Hawcoat) won against Dave Nelson and Brian Longhorn (Netherfield) 21-16 in the other semi-final.

Thornton and Brown went on to win 21-14 in the final but the scores didn’t reflect the quality of the bowling, with the lead changing with each wood delivered.
