A CONISTON museum has been brought into the 21st Century with a new ‘app’.
The ‘augmented reality’ experience is available at Brantwood, the former home of writer, artist and philosopher John Ruskin, where anyone with a smartphone or tablet can access an audio-visual guide.
“We are living in times where it is crucial to communicate his ideas and experiences to a savvy younger generation,” said inventor and Lancaster University alumni, Tarun Sainani.
Mr Sainani, a Ruskin fan, developed the technology for WT InfoTech, based at the Lancaster Environment Centre, which has created ‘augmented reality solutions’ for museums and travel companies.
The 29-year-old said the free Brantwood app worked as a modern audio-visual guide and simply needed to be pointed at features within the museum.
