PEOPLE are being asked to track down film footage and old photos of The Lakes School as it prepares to celebrate its 50th year anniversary next year.

The school, based at Troutbeck Bridge, opened on Friday October 8 1965 and during the autumn of next year plans to mark the occasion in style.

"We would like to invite everyone who has a connection with the school to come along," said head teacher Andy Cunningham. "You might even want to get involved in planning our celebrations - we know that there are many people in the community, and even further afield, who will have ideas, stories and items that they will want to share as part of our celebration.

"We are trying to track down some old cine film footage of stage performances and some old photos of events at the school. We also think there might be some things hiding in loft spaces such as items made in boys craft lessons that we would love to include in our anniversary celebrations.

"In addition to this, we would love to hear from anyone connected to Kelsick Grammar School, Windermere Grammar School and The Old College – the three schools that came together as The Lakes School all those years ago. Our anniversary provides a wonderful opportunity for us to bring together memories that span the generations and help our current students understand more about the wonderful history of their school."
