CAMPAIGNERS for people with sight loss have praised a South Lakeland District Council decision to standardise advertising (A) boards.
The council and shopkeepers developed a new code of conduct so that the boards did not cause obstructions for people with sight problems or make the streets looks untidy. After a year-long trial, a review meeting attended by representatives from Sight Advice in Kendal, heard praise for the scheme for delivering ‘substantial improvements’ in the town centre.
John Wilkinson from Vital said: “It is really important to give credit when it is due and a substantial improvement has taken place over the past year in relation to the placement of A-boards.
