FOOTBALL: Carvetii United set themselves up for their crucial first-meets-second tussle this Saturday with a 5-0 victory at Keswick Reserves in the Second Division of the Talbot Insurance Westmorland League.

The win leaves Carvetii two points adrift of Kendal County at the top of the table, with three games in hand, and a victory over their main rivals would go a long way to securing their promotion objective.

Wide midfielder Dan Robinson is in red-hot form and made it ten goals in five games when he bagged two against Keswick following a hat-trick the previous week.

Striker Andy Lockhart also doubled up, including a rare header, with Craig Barnes completing the scoring. Carvetii boss Malcolm Metcalfe said: "It was a bit too easy for us against a weakened Keswick side as we fairly swept them aside, but it does set us up well for County's visit."

It was a good weekend for Carvetii with the Reserves beating Appleby Reserves 3-0 thanks to goals from outstanding 16-year-old Scott Allinson, Craig Ostle and Karl Bell.

l MILNTHORPE Corinthians will play Wetheriggs United in the final of the Westmorland FA Senior Cup. In Saturday's semi-finals Corinthians won 4-0 at Kirkby Lonsdale, while Wetheriggs beat Keswick away 1-0 after extra time.
