MILNTHORPE priest Monsignor Francis Slattery is to help mark Interfaith Week by speaking about understanding between people of different faiths.

Father Slattery, who has been in the priesthood for 62 years, is to give his talk at the Friends Meeting House on Stramongate, Kendal, on Thursday, November 17, at 11am.

Interfaith Week is a nationwide event from November 13 to 20, designed to bring together people of different religions and beliefs.

The event at Kendal's Quaker meeting house is being presented by South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership, which seeks to celebrate diversity and reduce inequality.

Father Slattery has long been involved in interfaith work in Cumbria. Two years ago, when he reached his diamond anniversary as a priest, he was the subject of an article in respected journal Faith Initiative: Embracing Diversity (issue 31 (2014) 22 - see www.faithinitiative.co.uk)

Everybody is welcome at the free talk; donations welcome.
