KENDAL's Quaker Meeting House was the venue for a celebration of friendship between followers of different faiths.

Milnthorpe priest Monsignor Francis Slattery gave a talk on understanding between faiths at the event to mark Interfaith Week, from November 13 to 20.

South Lakeland Equality and Diversity Partnership presented the event, which led to an interesting discussion, said partnership member Jacquetta Gomes.

Kendal's deputy mayor Cllr Andy Blackman presented books on behalf of the partnership to Mgr Slattery and to Elizabeth Blaney from the Roman Catholic church in Windermere, who has supported the priest's interfaith work.

Mrs Gomes gave a short talk on Buddhists Engaged with Emergency Services and Faith and Fire (for more, visit bewesbuddhists.weebly.com).

A presentation was also given about oral history heritage project Hidden Stories.
