PART of a major new feature film starring big names from the movie world is to be shot in the Lake District next month - and local people have an opportunity to be in it!

A Surrey-based casting company is seeking extras to appear in the 'blockbuster' and participate in two to three days of paid filming in the Windermere area, working alongside international actors and actresses.

Alex Pickford, co-director of Piece of Cake Casting, said the name of the film and who would be appearing in it was still under wraps but said that it would be an 'epic' production.

"Filming has been taking place in the United States, in the Antipodes and they are coming over to England for the final stretch where they will be on location in London and the Lake District," said Ms Pilkington. "We need to find some wonderful people from the Lake District to be in the film and they will be paid while being on set.

"We don't need a vast amount of people. For them to be considered we need to have a photo with details about them including information such as their shoe size so that we can create a 'look book' that we can send to the director of the film so that he can approve them.

"We could bring people in from the London area but we would rather have people from the locality."

She added that the film was to be released in 2018. Among the films to be released next year are Avengers: Infinity War; Han Solo: A Star Wars Story and Harry Potter spin off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2.

The Lake District has featured in other box office successes including Snow White and the Huntsman, Miss Potter, Withnail and I and Derwentwater and Thirlmere provided the backdrop for aerial fight scenes in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Piece of Cake Casting has previously worked on Transformers, Rodents and Allied, starring Brad Pitt.
