A BURGLARY in which £10,000 in goods was stolen from a Kendal business has prompted police to issue a security warning to other companies in the area.

Cumbria Police have warned business in Kendal and the surrounding rural areas to be vigilant, locks doors and windows, and securely store items of value away.

It comes following a reported burglary at the Mintsfeet Industrial Estate earlier this month when approximately £10,000 worth of stock was taken from an insecure property. The items were taken between 8:00pm and 00:34am, overnight, between Monday, 6 and Tuesday 7 March.

A police spokesperson said: “Historically, insecure properties on industrial estates, and in rural areas have been targeted locally due to their locations.

"Criminals by nature are opportunists, and if they can gain access to your business without having to force entry then they will steal from you.

“Locking windows and doors is a simple measure that deters criminals from committing offences.”
