Two men have been taken to hospital and drinkers were evacuated after a car crashed into the wall of a pub near Mitcham Junction.

Emergency services were called to reports that a car slammed into the front of the Goat Pub in Goat Road shortly after 3.20pm on Friday, April 28.

The car was involved in a collision with a van in the road before it smashed into the pub.

A London Fire brigade spokesman confirmed that following the collision 16 people evacuated the public house and that a hazard zone was put in place before emergency services left at 5.10pm.

Paramedics treated the car’s driver, aged in his 50s, for minor injuries before he was taken to a west London hospital.

The driver of the van, also aged in his 50s, was taken to the same hospital as a precaution.

No arrests have been made in connection with the collision.

It was the second time emergency services have been called to the road within a week.

Twenty firefighters were called to a flat above Signright Graphics Ltd at 1.43am on Sunday, April 23.
