A LAKE District hotel which recently reopened following a devastating fire was evacuated following another scare yesterday (August 29).
At 12.45pm, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service crews were sent to Town Head, Troutbeck, and found an electrical unit which had been involved in a fire, leaving a cellar full of smoke.
A high pressure fan was used to clear the smoke and the Queen's Head Hotel was evacuated while the incident was dealt with.
A spokesperson for owners Robinsons Brewery said an incoming electrical cable had been smouldering but was not on fire.
They hope to have guests back in the hotel by tonight or early tomorrow morning once all electrical wiring has been made safe.
In June 2014, the hotel was gutted by a fire at the Grade II listed building, which at one stage had more than 50 firefighters from 11 crews trying to bring the flames under control. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, but 50 people, including staff and guests, had to be evacuated.
Robinsons Brewery invested £2 million in an extensive redevelopment of the building, and it once again began welcoming customers in April, nearly three years after the fire.
