A CARTMEL villager is seeking planning consent for an "ultra low-carbon eco dwelling" next to her existing home at Friars Garth, Haggs Lane.
Sarah Smith is proposing a two-bedroom, end-of-terrace house "for her old age", according to plans lodged with South Lakeland District Council.
The house would be highly insulated, with triple-glazed timber windows, Cumbrian slate roofing, solar panels and rainwater harvesting - and would be "a beacon" to sustainable living, state the plans.
