TWENTY holiday lodges are to be built on the banks of Lilymere at Killington after South Lakeland District Council's planning committee granted permission for the development.
The homes, proposed by Lilymere Estate, will be situated at various points around the mere , with the existing lodge housing the estate manager.

Councillors praised the development for its focus on improving the site and investing in the ecology in the area.
Cllr Kevin Lancaster said: "The current owners of the estate are working very constructively with our officers on what is, as far as we can all see, the best way forward."
Cllr Sylvia Emmett added: "If somebody is prepared to invest in our landscape I can see nothing but good coming of it."
However, one local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said the development was 'unsustainable' and disputed claims that there were no similar ones in the area, citing holiday homes around Ecclerigg Tarn nearby.
Councillors on the planning committee voted unanimously in favour of recommending approval.
