To mark the 200th anniversary of The Westmorland Gazette in 2018, we are publishing a photograph from our archives on our website every day this year.
Today's photograph shows the aftermath of showdrifts at Shap Fell in March 1941, which made the road impassable, causing heavy transport to occupy all available parking places in Kendal.
