A MEMORIAL plaque to prolific writer Bill Mitchell will be unveiled in Settle.
The Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line Partnership Group, together with Mr Mitchell’s family, are holding the event at Settle Station at 11am on Wednesday, March 21.
A plaque and poster dedicated to Mr Mitchell (1928-2015) will be unveiled, and anyone who had known the acclaimed writer over the years.
Mr Mitchell's family will be in attendance, together with Jon Mitchell (no relation), the ITV weatherman who was a friend of Bill’s. He will unveil the plaque.
Mr Mitchell was editor of the Dalesman magazine for 20 years and over a 60 year period has written more than 200 books, hundreds of articles and delivered many talks on the history and natural evolution of northern Britain, with particular emphasis on the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire and the Lake District.
