A TRAVEL blogger who has thousands of people following her journeys across the Lake District online has bagged a prestigious hosting gig at the Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards later this month.
Zoë Dawes, of Carnforth, is well-known for commenting and writing about Cumbria, the Lake District, Lancashire and other places around the world in her blog called the Quirky Traveller.
The blog commands a digital audience of more than 300,000 and Zoë has won numerous awards for her travel writing. She was the only UK representative chosen for a recent international press trip to Thailand.
"I am thrilled to have been asked to host the Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards," said Zoë. "I understand how important the tourism industry is to Britain’s economy.
"I am very lucky that I do what I love for a living. Travel is my passion. Whether it be to India or Inverness, there is always something unusual or intriguing to discover and share."
Previously Zoë was a judge for the Cumbria Family Business Awards, Lancashire Tourism Awards and a panellist at Taste Lancashire 2017.
"The wonderful job the tourism industry does, has truly cemented the UK’s reputation as a quality global destination," she said. "Wales is an inspiring country with a huge amount to offer both UK and international visitors. I am really looking forward to visiting Pembrokeshire again and to celebrate their tourism achievements."
Not only will he be hosting the awards, but Zoë will also be delivering training on blogging and travel writing.
“Pembrokeshire is a very popular holiday destination for thousands of visitors each year and destination marketing and responsible management is hugely important," Dennis O’Connor, tourism liaison manager for the Pembrokeshire Tourism Board, said. "We look forward to working with Zoe and to showcasing the wonderfully diverse county in which we are fortunate to live and work.
"We hope that when she leaves she will be inspired by what we have to offer visitors.”
The ceremony takes place at the Withybush showground in Haverfordwest, south Wales, on April 21.
