MANY congratulations to South Lakeland District Council for so promptly proceeding to turn the former New Road carpark into a delightful riverside garden of lawns, trees, flowers and pathways, all bounded by attractive fencing, even though the future and final use of the site is not yet decided.
Without such action, the site could have remained a sad and very prominent eyesore of dereliction, rubble and ugly, industrial fencing for months and months to come while the future use was debated and argued over with referendums and committee debates.
While that decision is yet still to be made, at least we can all enjoy the using new park and delight in the enhancement of a prominent and historic part of Kendal.
