FIFTY new homes are on the cards for the slate-quarry village of Kirkby-in-Furness.
Holbeck Homes and Lancet Homes, of Sale, hope to build a mix of 33 open-market and 17 affordable rented houses on farmland north of Burlington Primary School.
The 1.68 hectare site off School Road is allocated for housing in the local plan.
Developers shared their proposals with villagers and Kirkby Ireleth Parish Council last autumn, and have now lodged plans with South Lakeland District Council.
Road safety features such as extended Keep Clear markings have been incorporated to address concerns raised by locals.
