VILLAGERS gathered for a community litter pick to clear the foreshore in Arnside.
They were joined last Friday afternoon by Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron.
The event was jointly organised by Mr Farron and LOVEmyBeach, the North West campaign for cleaner beaches and seas.
Over the two hours, volunteers collected around 40 kilos worth of rubbish on the shoreline.
"I want to say a massive thanks to everyone who donned their wellies and came along to help us with the litter pick," said Mr Farron.
“The litter pick showed me that residents care about the communities they live in and want to contribute to keep them clean and tidy.
“I am pleased to have lent a hand today and have seen community spirit in action."
