KENDAL CC captain Chris Miller has praised his team following their dominant victory at the weekend, and hopes to build on the result to improve the team’s consistency.

Kendal managed a seven wicket victory over Thornton Cleveleys on Saturday, which sees them at sixth in the table and thirty points away from a promotion spot.

“It was a great day for us on Saturday,” Miller said. “We bowled and fielded really well, and managed to restrict Thornton Cleveley’s score.

“I thought we batted really well as well. Ed Price’s 40 was a fantastic knock and Phillips and Shepherd made a great partnership to see us home comfortably.

“Bariwala’s bowling was a real highlight. He was a massively important part of the game. We also had them under a lot of pressure in the first ten overs.

“We have got a good bowling unit. The issue we have had in the past is that we don’t always make good bowling partnerships. On Saturday we did, and that made the job easy for us as we went in to bat second.”

The win marks what Miller hopes will be a better second half of the season where Kendal can chase the teams in the top spots.

“What we need is consistency,” he said. “We need to be winning three or four games in a row and beating the top teams.”
