THE search to locate the graves of all 175 World War One soldiers on Ulverston's war memorial has been narrowed down to just four names.

Janet Elgin, standard bearer for Ulverston Royal British Legion, is taking part in a recreation of the Great Pilgrimage of 1928 this August, when war widows and veterans marched to the Menin Gate Memorial in Belgium, and visited the battlefields of the Somme and Ypres Salient.

As reported in last week's Gazette, she plans to place a small wooden cross on the graves of Ulverston's fallen at the cemeteries she and husband Anthony visit.

If you can help with details about John William Bell, Edwin Hadath, John Richard Shepherd or George Waring, email Mrs Eglin on janet.c.1@hotmail.com, or fill out a form at Ulverston Royal British Legion on Brogden Street.
