To mark the 200th anniversary of The Westmorland Gazette in 2018, we are publishing a photograph from our archives on our website every day this year.
Today's photograph shows playwright and author Alan Bennett with the Kendal Brewery's director Anne Pierson, when he visited to open the new theatre and cinema in 1993.
