Pattedale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) attended two incidents on Ullswater last night (Sunday).

The first incident was a false alarm with good intent. A man reported to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency that a family were in difficulty on a paddle board near to Norfolk Island.

It transpired that they were fine and the team stood down.

Shortly after this Cumbria Police requested the team's assistance to assess, treat and evacuate a 12-year-old boy from the eastern shore of Ullswater.

A spokesperson for Patterdale MRT said: "He had injured his leg while jumping into the water. Unfortunately, the boy had just had a cast removed from a previous broken leg. We wish him a speedy recovery."
