I FIND myself at odds with Steve Paton and other recent contributors to the letters page on the subject of pedestrian crossings.
Nobody likes sitting in slow-moving traffic, but it is unreasonable to respond to one's frustration by demanding that the rights of others be curtailed or infringed for one's personal advantage.
Short of knocking down half the town and culverting the Kent, traffic is always going to be slow moving in Kendal owing to the layout of the town. Drivers (I'm one too) should not expect the world to revolve around their convenience nor should they expect priority over other citizens. Indeed, drivers should take the attitude that they are allowed in the town on sufferance and behave accordingly.
