To mark the 200th anniversary of The Westmorland Gazette in 2018, we are publishing a photograph from our archives on our website every day this year.
Today's photograph shows Kirkby Stephen residents, who took to the streets in 1988 to protest about the proposed closure of 13 Cumbrian secondary schools.
